The Human Rights Center Viasna reports about 51 people detained during a march and a student rally in Minsk. The list of detainees is published on the center’s website.
Among the detained in Minsk there are journalists. Vadzim Zamirouski, photographer of BelaPAN and Tut.by, Darya Spyavak, journalist of Onliner.by, and Usevalad Zarubin, journalist of BelaPAN and TUT.BY, were among the detained.
At first the police stated that the journalists were detained to check IDs. Later it was reported that administrative cases had been initiated against them.
“An administrative process has been initiated against the detained journalists,” Raman Lashkevich, a representative of the press service of the Main Directorate of Internal Affairs, told Interfax, without specifying the article.
