Nearly 60K employees dismissed in Belarus in November


According to the Belstat statistics, last month 47,2 thousand people were able to find a job, including 2.6K people that could find extra added jobs.

For the first time in the last three months, the number of laid-off workers has exceeded the number of the employed. In September – 4.5K more people were hired than fired, and in October – 3.1K more.

In November, in many areas the number of laid off employees exceeded the number of those who got the job. Such situation was observed in fisheries and aquaculture (-69.2%), agriculture, hunting and forestry (-42.7%), industry (-40.8%), construction (32%), transport and communication (-23.9%), financial activities (-21.8%), hotel and restaurant business (-12.4%), trade (-10.4%).

Positive balance of employment was noted in the sphere of provision of public services (+ 25.7%), education (+ 23.3%), healthcare (+ 16.1%). Most of the new jobs in November were received in trade (871) industry (528) and construction (400).

In November, in Belarus, for the first time in five months, unemployment increased. The unemployment rate rose in two regions – Minsk (up 0.9%) and Mahiliou (up 1.1%). In other regions, this figure remained unchanged: in the Homiel region – 1.2%, Vitsebsk, Brest and Hrodna – 1.1% and in Minsk – 0.6%.
