Nanny who beheaded Russian child says it was revenge for Putin's Syria strikes

A woman suspected of beheading a child in her care before brandishing the severed head outside a Moscow metro station has said she acted to avenge Muslims killed in the Kremlin’s campaign of air strikes in Syria.

On Wednesday, she told reporters Allah had ordered her to commit the crime.

A video of questioning Gulchekhra Babakulova has appeared on the Internet on Thursday . The 38-year-old woman says she wanted to move to Syria and renounced sons who “do not read the Koran.”

It was not clear when the video was filmed, but Bobokulova was wearing the same clothes as during a court appearance on Wednesday.

Did you want to go to Syria?

I failed to go there because I had no money.

But you wanted?

Yes, I did.

Did you want to join ISIS?

I don’t know, I wanted to live there.

But what’s the [murdered] child got to do with it?

I revenged myself.

Upon whom?

Upon the one who is spilling blood like water.

And who did it?

Putin did, he ordered to drop bombs. Why are you dropping bombs on Muslims? They also want to live!

And that is the reason for your murdering the child…

Yes, I revenged myself.

Do you have children?

I have three sons, but they are dead for me. I don’t need them, they don’t read Quran.

And you are a strong believer who says prayers five times a day. You wanted to move to Syria, didn’t you?

Yes, I would go to any town where women cover their faces.

As reported earlier, on February 29, Bobokulova strangled four-year-old Nastya M. and then walked with the severed head of the kid shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’.
