Money talks: Belarus set to export as many goods to EU as to EEU


Balance in foreign trade is needed for the sustainable development of Belarus, president Alyaksandr Lukashenka said on Monday when receiving credentials from foreign diplomats.

According to the Belarusian leader, gradual diversification of export and equal distribution of trade in three major destinations, namely the Eurasian Economic Union, the European Union, and partners in Asia, Africa, North and South America, are among the main priorities of the Belarusian economic policy. By 2020, Belarus is planning to reach proportional balance of trade in every destination, he added.

As reported earlier, Alyaksandr Lukashenka carped at his partners’ barring Belarus from acting at their markets at the recent meeting of EEU leaders in Astana saying that equal economic conditions for the member states of the EEU and a barrier-free environment had not been created yet. Even after the signing of the EEU Treaty the internal trade turnover continue to be falling, he said:
