Homselmash plant agony: no operation on Fridays and lists of 'unnecessary' workers

Workers leave Homselmash, the largest manufacturer of agricultural machinery, due to crisis. Sometimes people leave in groups.

In late May, the plant administration issued another instruction – stop working on Fridays in June, keep part of the salary, draw lists of employees whose work is less important for the enterprise. One of the workers shared the photo of the paper with our channel.

In December, according to workers, as much as 10 thousand harvesters that failed to sell were hidden at the plant. After the new year, former Prime Minister Myasnikovich stated that the company had problems, but there was hope.

In May, the company was visited by the Prime Minister Andrei Kabyakou who optimistically said that Homselmash was our brand that lived and will live. However, it’s already June, and at the industrial giant there are only 2 working machines instead of two dozen.

Homselmash is not the only problem of the domestic economy. About 80% of Belarusian enterprises operate part-time. Milavitsa operates three days a week, a producer of refrigerators, Atlant, stopped the conveyor at all, a tenth of workers left MAZ and BelAZ through various issues. According to the forecasts of independent analysts, by the end of the year, the number of employees in production could fall down to 80 thousand people.
