'Friends will be friends': Assad asks money of Putin and … Lukashenka


The Syrian leadership is negotiating an increase in the economic cooperation with their counterparts from Russia and Belarus and asking for new loans, Russian state-run news agency RIA Novosti reports.

According to the Prime Minister of Syria, the government is in talks with Russia and Belarus over being granted new credit lines which will serve to ‘meet the needs of production’. Russia’s and Belarus’ support is to help Syria withstand the ‘unjust economic sanctions that the West has imposed,’ Wael Nader Halqi said.

“Russia has proved to be a friend of the Syrian people, and its positions have been repeatedly reaffirmed at the highest level. It is worth emphasizing that in the UN Security Council Russia used its veto power against the calls of the side supporting terrorism four times,” sputniknews.com quotes Halqi as saying.
