Freelance journalists again under accusation of cooperation with Belsat TV

Hrodna-based independent journalists Ales Kirkevich and Ales Dzyanisau was summoned to the police. Once again freelance journalists are accused of cooperation with our channel without being accredited under Article 22.9 of the Administrative Code (‘illegal production and distribution of media products’). The charge is based on their covering exhibition of dolls made by Lithuanian artists which was held in Hrodna exhibition hall.

The protocol on Ales Kirkevich’s case has been already drawn up, his colleague Ales Dzyanisau is to appear at the police station on Tuesday tomorrow. The both men have refused to bear witness.

Journalists believe that the authorities’ actions are nothing more than driving away independent media from the field of culture. Such trials usually result in state institutions’ refusal to communicate with independent journalists.

The previous case against Dzyanisau and Kirkevich (under the same article) was opened in April, 2015 over the reportage made in Hrodna Museum of the History of Religion.
