Facebook buys Belarusian app MSQRD


Facebook has acquired ‘Masquerade Technologies’ – Belarusian startup that developed the MSQRD application.

The cost of the deal was not disclosed. The application will continue to exist until Facebook integrates its technology into its interface. Founders of the MSQRD Yauhen Nyauhen, Syarhei Hanchar and Yauhen Zatsyapyakin will work in the London office of Facebook and will be engaged in adding new features in to the app.

On February 25, the MSQRD app was demonstrated in the American live show of Jimmy Kimmel. With the help of a smartphone and the installed app, Kimmel tried on virtual masks – including actor Leonardo DiCaprio, rap artists Snoop Dogg, the character of the Joker comics and regular monkey.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]MSQRD application allows you to apply on the face filters in real time, it is possible to speak with someone via video, but the interlocutor will see, for example, Barack Obama. The program was designed for mobile phones running iOS operating system and is available in the App Store.
