The head of the presidential administration, Natallia Kachanava, has admitted that there was a corruption scandal in her department.
The official stated that in Belarus there are still scandalous cases of corruption crimes.
“This year, the criminal activity of officials in the Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Health, Minsk City Executive Committee has been disclosed. Unfortunately, the presidential administration did not become an exception — abuse of power by the head of the department was stopped,” BelTA quotes.
True, she did not name the head of the department. Also Kachanava did not specify the abuses.
Kachanava’s statement was made against the backdrop of a loud corruption case of medical functionaries. As the chairman of the KGB, Valer Vakulchyk, said, the law enforcement agencies detained more than 50 people. The corruption scheme was associated with the supply of medical equipment, millions of dollars were given away in bribes, the KGB said.
