Belsat TV anchorman tried for participating in rally claims he was in Poland at that moment

Uladzimir Matskevich, a philosopher, political expert and Belsat TV presenter, is facing a fine for ‘participating in an unsanctioned rally’ on February, 15 in Minsk. The absurdity of the situation is that during the action Mr Matskevich was in… Warsaw.

It is the Belarusian riot policemen Yakauleu and Shyshko who claimed in court they had seen Mr Matskevich holding the poster “We need work!” in the course of the protest action on February, 15.

According to the defendant, he left Belarus on February 14 and returned on February 16. Journalist Zmitser Lukashuk published photos of the passport stamps on Facebook: stamps are clearly seen.

The political expert also wants his airline tickets to be entered into the record court.

“Matskevich is asking to file his ticket and passport stamps proving that he was not in Belarus on February, 15. A hectic flush is seen upon the judge’s cheeks; the riot policemen look like a mummified Lenin,” politician Anatol Lyabedzka, who was present at the hearing, said on Facebook.

Judge Viktoriya Shabunya ordered to remit the case for further investigation to Tsentralny district of internal affairs in Minsk.
