Belarusians working in Russia to have medical insurance

Medical insurance and other social guarantees will be available for Belarusians from the new year.

From January 1, EurAsEC workers will get in Russia access to the mandatory health insurance system.

“With Russia’s adoption of this decision, tens of thousands of workers from the EurAsEC countries will have access to social safety nets, along with Russian citizens,” said Karina Minasyan, board member on internal markets, and information and communication technologies of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Community has also previously stipulated that social security (except pension) of the EurAsEC workers and their families is carried out under the same conditions as for the citizens of the state. However, in practice, workers from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan could not get access to the mandatory health insurance program, which is part of the Russian Social Security.
