Belarusian plane demolished house in Southern Sudan. Five-year girl died


During the landing in Juba, capital of Southern Sudan, where Belarusian plane was carrying humanitarian aid, it blew off the roof of a house. Four people were injured, two women and two children, one girl died.

An IL-76 carrying humanitarian aid of the United Nations World Food Program in Southern Sudan belongs to the Belarusian company “Transaviaeksport”. During the accident, Belarusian crew was flying the plane.

During the landing at the airport in Juba in a storm and low visibility, the plane touched the tree and knocked down a building. The crew tried to gain altitude. Jet engines damaged the roof of another house.

Representatives of the UN World Food Program in Southern Sudan have confirmed that a five-year girl died in one of the damaged houses. Two adults, a boy and a girl, were injured.

As reported by The Aviation Herald, a witness of the incident on the ground saw the plane emerge from behind the clouds outside the center line of the runway near the hotel ‘Hotel Rainbow’ (on the map), it tried to make a new round, but touched a building and took to the skies.

In the collision, the plane damaged the landing gear and was forced to make an emergency landing in the Uganda airport.
