State officials eager to bring lowcosters to Belarus

The Ministry of Transport and Communications will help bring lowcosters to Belarus, head of the Ministry of Transport and Communications Anatol Sivak told reporters.

“There are currently no reasons for lowcosters not to fly to the republic. This is rather a problem of lowcosters — if they take a decision to fly to some destinations on certain tariffs, they stem from cost effectiveness,” said Anatol Sivak.

According to him, for the solution to be effective, there needs to be a corresponding volume of passenger traffic. Now, said Sivak, the only ‘lowcoster’ we have is the Minsk – Zhukouski route, operated by the Belavia national airline.

“If a particular airline wants to launch here a lowcoster flight, I see no obstacles for it. We have no legal obstacles for it. We, on the contrary, will contribute to this,” said Sivak.
