Belarus govt bans export of oxygen therapy equipment


On April 21, the Belarusian Council of Ministers expanded the list of medical supplies the export of which is suspended.

The ministers made an amendment to the resolution dated by 17 March. In accordance with the document, the government imposed a temporary ban on the export of a number of medical products from Belarus. Surgical coats, face masks, respirators, bandages, gauze, cotton wool, chemical protection suits, surgical gloves and other medical supplies were included in the list.

From now on, it is also forbidden to ship equipment for oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation as well as other therapeutic breathing apparatus’ out of Belarus.

The corresponding decree has been published on the national legal Internet portal on Wednesday.

As of April 22, there have been 7,281 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Belarus (+558 over the day before); 58 patients have died.

As reported earlier, the WHO experts concluded at the end of its assessment of the country’s response to the pandemic that Belarus needs to introduce community-wide steps to increase physical distancing, e.g. postponing large gatherings, placing in quarantine contacts of confirmed patients, introducing options for teleworking, and distance learning for educational institutions, etc.
