Belarus diplomats: Cigarette pack explodes near embassy in Vilnius


A blast occurred near the building of the Belarusian Embassy in Vilnius on May, 18. An ‘unknown item’ was reported to have exploded.

The employees claim that a pack of cigarettes containing an explosive device was thrown into the territory of the Belarusian embassy on Thursday evening, delfi.lt reports.

The police believe that a firecracker might have detonated. No one was injured in the incident; the property was not damaged either.

The situation was reported to the police by a Belarusian official, representative of the General Commissariat of Vilnius District Paulus Radvilavicius says.

A pre-trial investigation into the incident has been initiated. At the moment, there are no suspects.
