Associated Press: White House sought information about Polish 'incursions' in Belarus

US National Security Advisers ‘have been soliciting guidance from national security agencies on how to improve relations with Russia, asking what Washington could offer Moscow and what Trump should seek from Russian President Vladimir Putin’.

The information was published by news agency Associated Press. In this article the request was called an ‘eyebrow-raising event’, and it was noted that no evidence of such incursions exists.

“Some early moves by Trump officials have given hints about their priorities – and raised concerns within the administration. According to one U.S. official, national security aides have sought information about Polish incursions in Belarus, an eyebrow-raising request because little evidence of such activities appears to exist. Poland is among the Eastern European nations worried about Trump’s friendlier tone on Russia,” the authors of the article wrote.

Several experts in the military field have reacted to the article.

John Schindler, a former intelligence analyst and counterintelligence officer of the US National Security Agency, wrote in his Twitter that the invasion of Poland in Belarus exists only in “the Kremlin’s sick mind, and that Poland is a stalwart NATO ally.

American journalist Dan Tynan suggested that such a request can be ‘laying the groundwork for justifying expansionist policies by Putin — to “protect” Belarus?’

Tom Nichols, Professor of the Naval War College USA , wrote that the invasion of Poland in Belarus – “rumor astroturfed by pro-Russian nutcases”.

The popular and respected military blog ‘War Is Boring’ also noted this information. The post described the situation in Belarus as “alarming”, and the scenario of Belarus being captures during the West-2017 exercises as possible.
