Arm-wavers will be thrown into battle in first place – Lukashenka about war threat

In Belarus, there are some figures who have Russia in mind and are trying to stir up outrage, president Alyaksandr Lukashenka said on Wednesday when summing up the first day of the 5th Belarusian national Congress.

In his opinion, it is impossible to fight sitting in front of a TV set. “Heaven forbid something will happen and these arm-wavers will be the first to carry out an attack, we will provide them with such opportunity,” Lukashenka said.

“No one will hide in our coutry,” the leader said.

The 5th Belarusian National Congress kicked off in Minsk on Wednesday. Its participants are expected to evaluate implementing the program on Belarus’ social and economic development in 2011-2015 and discuss the main provisions of the corresponding program for 2016-2020.

The main aim set for the current five-year term is bolstering the competitive ability of the economy and the quality of life of Belarusian citizens.

According to political expert Alyaksandr Klaskouski, now the Congress is sort of a psychotherapeutic ritual which makes Lukashenka believe that the ground is not crumbling under his feet.
