Poland may completely close border with Belarus – govt rep

The authorities are considering the option of completely closing the border with Belarus due to the unprecedented migration crisis, Piotr Müller, spokesman for the Polish government, said on Wednesday.

“This option is taken into account in subsequent scenarios. Now we are directly sending the corresponding information to the Belarusian authorities through diplomatic and official channels, saying such a threat does exist if they do not stop the hybrid war at the border,” he stressed in an interview with Wirtualna Polska.

According to Piotr Müller, there has been no response from the Belarusian authorities so far.

On November 9, the police reported that 3,000-4,000 persons settled in the forest on the Belarusian side along the Polish border; there have been numerous attempts to destroy barbed wire fences and illegally enter the territory of Poland. Notably, the number of Belarusian officers near the border is constantly growing; they are keeping a close eye on the migrant camp.

On November 10, traffic was suspended in both directions at the road border crossing point in Kuznica due to the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border.
