Hrodna-based cameraman and journalist Andrey Fralou was taken into custody in Lida district on May 4, our local correspondent reports.

Fralou was returning from the town of Byarozauka on Tuesday evening when he was detained for allegedly disobeying the police. He was taken to the pre-trial detention centre of Lida, where he is being held now.

It is still unknown when the journalist will be tried. It is not ruled out that the hearing of his case will take place today. Notably, the prison administration failed to accept and hand over a parcel with food products and essentials to him, RFE/RL reports.

As a freelancer, Andrey Fralou contributes to a number of media outlets, including the Polish channel TVP Polonia. He has been detained several times before.
