Lukashenka’s companion in church: Kolya’s mother or future first lady of Belarus? (video)

On January 7, Alyaksandr Lukashenka attended a Nativity service at the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Minsk. He was accompanied not only by his youngest son Kolya, but by an unknown woman, who must have been seated between the two Lukashenkas in the car. Was she doctor Iryna Abelskaya (Kolya’s alleged mother)? Or Belarus’s first lady-in-waiting?

Official sources failed to mention the name of Lukashenka’s female companion. State-run TV station Belarus-1 reported that the Belarusian leader showed up at the service in the company of his youngest son. Other media outlets do not provide any footage of the president’s arrival.

“One should not nose into anyone’s private life without permission. But the head of state is a public figure. He is elected for a certain period, his task is to serve the people who elected him. And this person should demonstrate a very high level of morality to society. We know that the affair between Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky nearly led to his impeachment. But we do not know anything about the life Alyaksandr Lukashenka is leading,” activist and film director Volha Nikalaichyk told Belsat TV.

The Belarusian president has two sons of the marriage with Halina Lukashenka, whom he has never divorced. Iryna Abelskaya, Lukashenka’s former personal physician, is commonly regarded as the mother of his youngest son Kolya. It is still unknown whether she put her son under his father’s care voluntarily – the journalists are barred out from interviewing the woman. The Belarusian leader is often seen in the company of young girls.
