Belarus starts to adopt Turkmenistan’s best practices - Lukashenka


Belarus is ready to discuss a wide range of issues regarding the mutually beneficial cooperation with Turkmenistan in the context of ‘the complicated situation in the world’, Belarusian president Alyaksandr Lukashenka told his Turkmenian counterpart Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov who is on his two-day visit to Minsk.

According to the Belarusian leader, he likes visiting Turkmenistan.

“I am always impressed by the innovations in Ashgabat, we even start to adopt the best practices of yours. At the same time, we share our best practices with you,” state-run news agency BelTA quotes Lukashenka as saying.

In turn, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made a point of the effectiveness of the international partnership of Belarus and Turkmenistan. The countries hold similar positions in the world and supported each other, for example, in the UN Economic and Social Council and a number of specialized commissions and committees, he said.

Belarus and Turkmenistan reaffirmed the importance of further deepening the political dialogue, strengthening trade and economic cooperation and adopting practical measures to increase the mutual trade. The parties show a big interest in cooperation and exchange of experience in such areas as energy, transportation, road construction, tourism, agriculture, textile industry. Berdimuhamedov and Lukashenka are also set to extend cooperation in the transport and logistics sector and maximizing the use of the transit potential of the two countries.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov’s visit to Belarus has started on May 11. A number of bilateral documents are to be signed after the two leaders’ negotiations.
