Belarus President Alyaksandr Lukashenka is on a working visit to Turkey.
The Belarusian leader is reported to participate in the summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul on April, 14. The summit will take place under the motto “Unity and solidary for justice and peace”. The Belarus president is expected to make a speech during the summit.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is an international organization that comprises over 50 countries with the population of 1 billion people.
“Approaches and priorities of Belarus and the OIC on the international scene coincide a lot particularly in such areas as family values, religious tolerance, sustainable development, and human rights,” state-run news agency BelTA reports.
Lukashenka is also going to hold a number of bilateral meetings and negotiations with leaders of foreign nations.
Notably, the relations between Russia, Belarus’ official main ally, and Turkey deteriorated after the latter shot down the Russian Su-24 warplane.
