Belarusians will be left without legal protection.

The Belarusian authorities may strip Lyudmila Kazak, a defence lawyer of political prisoner Maryia Kalesnikava, of her barrister’s license, the human rights centre Viasna reports.

On January 16, a Minsk court considered and rejected the complaint of Maryia Kalesnikava’s defence against the extension of the detention period. Maria will remain in custody until March 8.
