'We do not see class struggle.' Activist Shumchanka spoke on conditions for change

Chairman of the “Perspektiva” NGO Anatol Shumchanka believes that until various social strata do not fight for their rights, Belarus will not get changes.

“The authorities have lists of people who can be detained at any time,” said Anatol Shumchanka. On April 2nd, the leader of the Belarusian entrepreneurs was released after 10 days of arrest.

Mr Shumchanka served his sentence in the Zhodzina jail, in a cell with Vyachaslau Siuchykom. Anatol said that despite some information, the leader of the ‘Razam” solidarity movement had glasses.

Anatol Shumchanka believes that massive preventive detentions should be avoided in the future. He also thinks change in the country will come after various social strata understand their rights and defend them.
