On Tuesday, Russia announced the military excercises of the Kaliningrad armed forces. State Border Guard Service of Lithuania received information about Russian conscripts on their way to Kaliningrad.

The Service representative Rokas Pukinskas partially confirmed this information, lrytas.lt reports.

“We received information from the MFA staff that a lot of young men of military age were on this train. Therefore, security was tightened. Our staff checked the train, but all passengers had documents and visas. We had no claims against them, and we couldn’t keep them from passing through our territory,” said Pukinskas.

After the documents were checked, train was allowed to go to Kaliningrad.

Lithuanian Defense Minister Juozas Olekas confirmed to reporters that the agency did receive information about transportation of young people to Kaliningrad.

“According to our information, those were students of the naval academy,” said Olekas.

When asked why they cordoned off the Vilnius station, the minister said that it was a precautionary measure. “So that others would not come,” said the Lithuanian Defence Minister.

On March 19, the flats of the ‘separatists’ who called to fight against Lithuania and advocated the country’s withdrawal from NATO and the EU were searched in 12 Lithuanian cities.
