People in Minsk are saying goodbye to one of the most well-known journalists in Belarus, Ukraine and Russia, Pavel Sharamet, who was killed in Kyiv on July 20th.

About a thousand people gathered in front of the Church of All Saints to bid farewell to the prominent Belarusian journalist. Many brought white-red-white bouquets and flowers in the colors of Ukrainian flag. Near the church are seen the Minsk police authorities and a few paddy wagons.

At the request of Pavel Sharamet family, journalists are not allowed in the church.

The coffin with the body of the deceased journalist was brought to Minsk by plane and placed in the Chapel of All Saints in the Uskhod district of Minsk.

After the service the journalist will be buried in the North Cemetery in Minsk, next to his father.

Yesterday the farewell ceremony was held in the “Ukrainian House” in Kyiv.

The Belarusian Association of Journalists began collecting funds to help the family of Pavel Sharamet.
