Russian military set temporary bridge across Dnieper near Mahiliou


During a training exercise in the Mahiliou region, the military of the pontoon company of the Kantemir Tank Division of Russia, in cooperation with the engineering units of the Armed Forces of Belarus, practiced putting up a bridge across the Dnieper.

In total, the drill involved about 500 soldiers, more than 60 units of military and special equipment, Defense Ministry reports. There was set up a ferry between the two river banks, then there was built a bridge crossing about 300 meters long, which where armored vehicles later passed. The report does not specify whether it was the Belarusian or Russian equipment of the Kantemir division.

Previously, the Defense Ministry of Belarus noted that the excercises on the Dnieper are part of preparations for the “West-2017” military drill.
