Lukashenka hails current period as thaw in Belarus-EU relations

The current situation is marked by the establishment of good relations between European states, Belarus and the Czech Republic in the first place, president Alyaksandr Lukashenka said at Thursday’s meeting with Czech Foreign Minister Lubomir Zaoralek.

“No one has ever considered either Czechoslovakia, or the Czech Republic and Slovakia as alien states for us,” he said.

According to him, there were more good sides in the relations, although there were enough ‘clouding factors’.

“There were a lot of positive and negative things in the history. We should make the corresponding conclusions. I have said this to lead you to the idea that we had found strength to reverse the situation, and the current situation is seen as a period of improving relations between European states, Belarus and the Czech Republic in the first place,” Lukashenka stressed.
