Adidas is selling women’s red dresses and T-shirts with the inscription USSR and the emblem of the Soviet Union, Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Twitter.
“Being sick with ‘imperial nostalgia’ – it still occurs. A bit surprising from the famous Adidas, though,” the statement reads.
Most people who commented on the tweet were outraged.
“What is next? T-shirt with a swastika?” user atradimai wonders.
“Today I had the choice between Adidas Originals and Nike cortez. Thank you, Adidas, for your helped me to opt for Nike,” user Sigitas Kaciusis stressed.
Since 2008, there has been a ban on Soviet and Nazi symbols in Lithuania. One may get a fine of up to €289 for wearing such a T-shirt.
