Belarusian guest worker tortured in Sochi

The 43-year-old Mikalai came to the resort city to raise money for the treatment of his mother who has cancer, but ended up with dishonest employers.

The owners of the local car wash lured the man from the construction site, offering him a better salary. The facility was in the territory of one of the former resorts.

The man alone repaired the premises of a cafe and autoshop, built boards, repaired roads and carried out other assignments.

“He was deprived of his passport, was not paid the money, and his requests for compensation increasingly irritated the attackers,” volunteers of the “Alternative” movement wrote.

They were approached by colleagues from the Belarusian search and rescue team, who were asked to help the relatives of the missing person.

The owners, who often drank, began to beat him and torture him with a red-hot iron: a poker and a knife. Mikalai lost consciousness due to pain shock. Volunteers posted photos of traces and burns left on the victim’s legs.

The man was rescued by the coordinator of the movement in Krasnodar who drove him out at night, when the perpetrators slept. Now the man is in Moscow, and he was promised help with writing a police statement and getting home.
