Former presidential candidate is known to have been put into the Punishment Isolation Cell of Mahiliou Prison №4 on June 27, 2012.
According to statkevich.org, the political prisoner received ten days of disciplinary cell after another provocation having been organised against him. The prison administration is trying to recognise Statkevich suicidally inclined person, the web site says.
Maryna Adamovich, the wife of the politician, recalls that the prison warden told her about suicide attempts after Statkevich had been moved there. She thought it to be some unfortunate mistake. “Now the story turns out to have legs. What does it mean? Isn’t it an effort to prepare an alibi?” she wonders.
Earlier Mikalai Statkevich was acknowledged “gross violator of service order”, “inclined to attack and escape.” All these facts provide formal basis for extending his prison term.
