On June 1, 2012 Belsat TV organised a promotional event in Minsk and central cities of Belarusian regions on occasion of Children’s Day. Being greatly imressed by a sight of clowns handing sweets round children did not think twice to help themselves to goodies. Belsat programs, films and cartoons were endorsed to parents who took incredible delight in know more about guality educational and entertainment products for their kids.
But city policemen took the celebration to be an unofficial protest action and detained Volha Chaychyts and Tatsiana Belashova, who were covering the feast in Minsk Gorky Park. Independent journalists were warned against the photos by policemen going public otherwise they may be taken to court.
