Andrey Molchan diagnosed with “prevalent jaw fracture”

European Belarus civil campaign activist who was beaten by policemen is to leave emergency care hospital today. During the ward round he was told about the release and recommended to consult doctors in a polyclinic. “I’ll go there and see what they will tell me,” Andrey said.

On May 21, 2012 the Minsk emergency care hospital staff ascertained that Andrey Molchan had a jaw fracture and craniocerebral trauma. But later the doctor told the activist that his jaw fracture is prevalent. As for Andrey, he asserts that he had no jaw fracture before.

A criminal case is to be opened in relation to Andrey Molchan for contempt of the president and beating of a police worker, a police officer told Andrey Molchan’s sister.

The policemen detained Andrey Molchan near Pershamayski store in Minsk and brutally beat him after the activist unfolded a white-red-white flag in solidarity with Siarhei Kavalenka, the imprisoned Vitsebsk oppositionist. Aliaksandr Lastouski, press secretary of the City Directorate of Internal Affairs, refused to comment the situation.
