On 20 October, the Ministry of Justice launched disciplinary proceedings against the defense lawyer of Viktar Babaryka and Maksim Znak — lawyer Yauhen Pylchanka. By the same order, he was suspended, reports Dzmitry Layeuski, also a former lawyer of Viktar Babaryka.
“Now Viktar Babaryka is deprived of the opportunity to receive legal assistance from the layers he chose. It seems there is no need to comment,” wrote Dzmitry Layeuski.
On 9 July this year, two days after the verdict was pronounced on Viktar Babaryka, Layeuski was deprived of lawyer’s status.
One week earlier, on 13 October, immediately after the defense had filed a complaint about the supervisory review of the verdict, lawyer Natallia Matskevich was suspended from practicing law. Recently, she was engaged in political processes and defended, among others, Syarhei Tsikhanouski and Mikola Dzyadok.
Last October, another lawyer of Viktar Babaryka — Alyaksandr Pylchanka, father of Yauhen, was deprived of his license. He also represented the interests of Maryia Kalesnikava.
