During the tour of the radio warfare equipment repairs factory the Belarusian leader underlined that apart from repairing and upgrading the hardware Belarusian enterprises should gradually advance towards making new modern weaponry. ‘We have to create our own system based on this and it should be as good as the S-300 system. Think about what kind of missile it will have. The missile has to be effective and able to destroy any target. All factories once started with repairs, then proceeded to modernisation and then the manufacturing of their own products,’ Aliaksandr Lukashenka said.

‘You have to make new modern weapons for defending the country and for export,’ he stressed.

The S-300 (NATO reporting name SA-10 Grumble) is a series of initially Soviet and later Russian long range surface-to-air missile systems produced by NPO Almaz, based on the initial S-300P version. The S-300 system was developed to defend against aircraft and cruise missiles for the Soviet Air Defence Forces.
