Russia to deploy strategic bombers in Belarus

Strategic bombers Tupolev Tu-160 are expected to be stationed at a military airfield in Belarus.

Moscow craves for achieving military parity in the zone adjacent to its westerly border lines. Tu-160 will be Russia’s response to deploying U.S. Bombers B2 and B52 in Western Europe, Russian media reports.

After Russian bombers Tu-160 have taken part in a military parade on the occasion of Belarus’s Independence Day they will be moved to a military airfield in Belarus, Russian e-media politikus.ru says with reference to an anonymous source in Russia’s Air Force. There’s no information about the number of planes and the destination aerodrome.

The Belarusian Defence Ministry refused to comment on the situation.
