2% of Russians call Lukashenka 'Person of the Year 2015'


Two percent of people in Russia have called President Alyaksandr Lukashenka Person of the Year 2015. The survey was conducted by sociologists from the center “Levada.”

The head of Belarus ranked fifth in popularity after Russian President Vladimir Putin (56%), the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov (10%), Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu (8%) and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev (4%). According to the Yuri Levada Analytical Center, the list of top five leaders in 2011-2014 did not have Lukashenka (Putin topped them all).

The current survey was held on 18-21 December and used the representative nationwide sample of 1,600 urban and rural residents aged 18 years and older in 137 settlements of 48 regions of Russia. The statistical error does not exceed 3.4%.
