Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics is set to reject the Belarusian authorities’ request for the extradition of former presidential wannabe Valery Tsapkala.

The presidential race in Belarus is at full speed. Assemblies of Belarusians, including those of the diaspora, are gaining more and more attention in Western media; so does the dispersals of peaceful protesters.

On June 7, as was the case a week and two weeks ago, the initiative groups of potential presidential candidates were collecting signatures for their nomination. Pre-election pickets took place in about 30 Belarusian cities and towns.
