The Belarusian authorities have extended the detention of political prisoner Andrzej Poczobut for the coming three months, human rights centre Viasna reports.

Three of the five Belarusian Poles arrested in the so called Polish case have been ‘deported’ to Poland, Belsat TV Director Agnieszka Romaszewska-Guzy said on Twitter on Wednesday, referring to ‘unconfirmed but reliable information’.

On April 16, Elisabeth Rosenstock-Siller, Acting Deputy Chief of US Mission to the OSCE, delivered a statement on the situation in Belarus to the Permanent Council in Vienna. According to her, repression in the country has not stopped.

President Andrzej Duda is set to bring the issue the Polish minority in Belarus to the limelight.

The Prosecutor General’s Office initiated a criminal case against Andżelika Borys, Chairperson of the Union of Poles in Belarus (UPB), and other members of the organisation.

On Tuesday evening, Andzelika Borys, Chairperson of the Union of Poles in Belarus, was detained in the city of Hrodna. Now she is in Leninski district police department.
