The action of Belarusian women in Berlin was one of a large number of events that took place in the German capital on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

On Tuesday afternoon, Minskers held an action of solidarity with journalist Katsyaryna Barysevich, doctor Artsyom Sarokin, as well as with persecuted media workers and human rights activists, TUT.BY reports.

On Saturday, a traditional women’s march took place in Minsk, as well as a rally of people with disabilities.

On September 9, Minskers have held another rally in support of Maryia Kalesnikava and Belarusian political prisoners.

On September 8, hundreds of Minskers gathered in the vicinity of Kamarouski market to show support for Coordination Council member Maryia Kalesnikava. She was detained at the Belarusian-Ukrainian border on Tuesday morning.

On Tuesday evening, photographer Svyatlana Far visited two protest spots – Riga shopping centre and Serabranka residential area – and took pictures of what was going on in the city, including drivers’ rally of solidarity.

People have formed a living chain on Gediminas Avenue.
