Minsk predetention centre

Andrey Kuznechyk, a freelance journalist and a Minsk-based contributor of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, has not been released from prison after serving two ten-day terms of administrative arrest.

Today, on Human Rights Day, the US Department of State has imposed sanctions on 12 officials of foreign governments, including two directors of the detention center on Akrestsin Street in Minsk, over their being part of human right abuse in their countries.

The reputed Belarusian activist Volha Harbunova has been hungerstriking since her being detained on November 9, Reform.by reports citing Volha’s friends.

Ten female cellmates, including journalist Iryna Slaunikava, have been hunger striking in the two-man cell of the infamous detention centre on Akrestsin Street in Minsk since Wednesday evening.

A number of female prisoners who were placed under arrest in the notorious detention centre on Akrestsin Street in Minsk has launched a hunger strike in protest against the harsh conditions of confinement.

Last week it became known that 53-year-old Alena Amelina from Minsk had died as a result of the covid complications after serving an administrative arrest in the remand prison in Akrestsin Street. The woman became infected there. But how numerous such cases are in reality, is actually unknown.

Husband and wife will spend a total of 112 and 111 days in jail

26-year-old Syarhei Krupenich and Anastasiya Krupenich-Kandratsieva from Minsk have been in prison since July 15. They have been arrested seven times in a row for ‘distributing extremist materials’. According to human rights activists, they were sentenced for ‘extremism’ in private correspondence – links to various channels recognized as ‘extremist’.

Maria Uspenskaya’s relatives aren’t taking the show
