The Prosecutor General’s Office of Belarus has suspended the criminal case on the death of Minsk resident Raman Bandarenka. The Minsk activist was savagely beaten on November 11, reportedly by police officers or Lukashenka’s adherers.

TUT.BY journalist Katsyaryna Barysevich, who was convicted on the back of reporting reliable information about the murdered protester Raman Bandarenka’s death, has been released from prison.

Journalist Katsyaryna Barysevich was transferred from the Zhodzina prison, Tut.by reports. Notably, she was carried over one week prior to her release; the imprisonment is to exprire on May 19.

TUT.BY reporter Katsyaryna Barysevich has been placed on the preventive register in Zhodzina prison as a person ‘prone to extremism and other destructive actions’.

On Tuesday, Minsk City Court considered an appeal against the sentence passed upon TUT.BY journalist Katsyaryna Barysevich.

The independent news agency BelaPAN has awarded journalists Katsyaryna Andreyeva, Darya Chultsova, Katsyaryna Barysevich with Ales Lipai Prize which is also known as ‘Honour to Journalist’. The three media workers have been behind bars for nearly five months.

The Prosecutor General’s Office has filed an appeal to Minsk City Court against a lower court’s ruling in the case of TUT.by journalist Katsyaryna Barysevich and doctor Artsyom Sarokin.

Journalists remain a target of the Belarusian regime’s brutal attacks, opposition leader Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya said during Monday’s videoconference organised by the Permanent Representation of Poland to the European Union in Brussels.

On Tuesday afternoon, Minskers held an action of solidarity with journalist Katsyaryna Barysevich, doctor Artsyom Sarokin, as well as with persecuted media workers and human rights activists, TUT.BY reports.

On February 22, Maskouski district court of Minsk resumed considering the case of TUT.by journalist Katsyaryna Barysevich and doctor Artsyom Sarokin. The Belarusian authorities accuse the two defendants of disclosing medical secrets.

The protest has been going on for 198 days
