The Amnesty International human rights watchdog and the Belarusian Council of Culture have announced a joint action in support of 17-year-old political prisoner Mikita Zalatarou.

On April 7, the Amnesty International organisation published its report on the state of the human rights in the world; it covers 149 countries and delivers a comprehensive analysis of human rights trends globally in 2020.

The Belarusian authorities are resorting to threats, harassment and prosecution of children in an increasingly desperate attempt to suppress dissent, Amnesty International recalls ahead of the six-month anniversary on 9 February of the start of protests in the country.

Amnesty International has prepared a briefing for the Universal Periodic Review of Belarus (UPR). The 36th session of the UPR working group will take place in May, 2020.
