In an interview with Belsat, Pavel Latushka, Head of the People’s Anti-Crisis Administration (PACA) and former Belarusian minister, commented on the might-have-been rally on Victory Day and the widely reported decree on power transfer in case of Lukashenka’s death.

This year, Victory Day was celebrated against the backdrop of a deep political crisis.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the Belarusian authorities decided not to depart from the tradition of holding a Victory parade in Minsk. On May 9, Belsat reporters have gone live to cover the event.

During Thursday’s press conference on COVID-19 in the European region, a top WHO official has expressed gratitude to the country leaders who decided to postpone the Victory Day celebrations.

Despite the pandemic, Belarus is set to stage a Victory Day parade on May, 9. But the military from Russia and China have refused to participate in the event, RFE/RL reports.

Officially, it is planned to announce about the postponement of the parade in Moscow by the end of the week.

“Victory Day, Independence Day is like family holidays.”

The parade will involve Russian and Chinese military.

All necessary measures are being taken to stop the spread of COVID-2019 in Belarus, President Alyaksandr Lukashenka said during Friday’s visit to Belgips Company.
