Minsk court has fined in absentia journalist Katsyaryna Andreyeva 45 basic units (1,035 BYN) for “violation of media law” (Article 22.9 of the Administrative Code).
She was fined for working at the “non-parasite march” in Brest on 5 March, where she reported the events for “Belsat”. The journalist was accused of collaboration with the TV channel without accreditation.
The decision was passed by judge Fyodarava. The hearing was held on May 4 without the participation of the journalist — Katsyaryna received a subpoena only on May 5.
This was not the first time the journalist was tried for her professional activities. On March 12, she was arrested in Vorsha after a similar march and spent the night in jail. The next day, the Vorsha city court fined her 30 basic units for “disobeying the police” and “violating the law on mass media”.
