Over 160K Donbas immigrants escaped to Belarus

This was announced by the Belarus ambassador to Ukraine Ihar Sokal.

“We have provided assistance with employment and housing to the people who were forced to leave Ukraine after the conflict. According to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, since the beginning of the crisis, Belarus became the destination point for about 160 thousand Ukrainian refugees,” the diplomat said at the conference “25 years of Ukraine-Belarus dialogue: prospects of bilateral relations in the times of global challenges” in Kyiv.

The Ambassador stressed that Belarus, which “not only knows, but also remembers what the war is, is interested in the soonest establishment of peace and harmony in the fraternal Ukrain”.

“That’s why in the years 2014-2016 Minsk was the venue for the settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine… Belarus is vitally interested in the fact that the conflict is settled as soon as possible and is ready to facilitate this process in the future,” emphasized Mr Sokal.
