Wizz Air may start flying from Belarus’ Hrodna

Belarus and Hungary are mulling over organizing flights of the low-cost air carrier Wizz Air from the airport in Hrodna.

Uladzimir Krautsou, Head of Hrodna region executive committee, has met with Ambassador of Hungary to Belarus Zsolt Csutora on May, 2.

According to the Hungarian diplomat, there is ‘mutual interest’ in this field. Hrodna may become an attractive tourism destination, he added.

“Moreover, we share some common history. I am primarily talking about King of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth Stephen Bathory, who was a significant historical figure for Hungary, too. A royal castle in Hrodna is being restored. There are his residences in our country, too. Such ties could become the starting point in establishing cooperation,” state-run news agency BelTA quotes the утмўн.

The Hungarian side expressed readiness to contribute to the castle’s restoration.

In turn, Mr Krautsou stressed that the current possibility to visit Hrodna district and Svislach district may attract more foreign guests to Belarus.
