Whose land is Crimea? Pro-Lukashenka organisation activist on both sides of the fence

Dzyanis Silivonik, an activist of the pro-government youth organization, failed to clearly answer the question of a Belsat TV journalist.

25-year-old Silivonik, 25, acting first secretary of the Brest branch of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union (BRSM), was leading the group that was meeting the members of pro-Putin motorcycle club ‘The Night Wolves’ in Brest Fortress.

At first, Mr Silivonik refused to answer our reporter’s questions saying that ‘your media outlet is not accredited’. Then, however, he stated that Crimea used to be Ukrainian, and now it is Russian. Asked if he recognizes Crimea as part of the Russian Federation Russian, the activist answered that Crimea is … neither Russian nor Ukrainian.

Moreover, Dzyanis Silivonik inhibited his subordinates from talking to reporters. When independent journalists tried to reach Mr Silivonik by phone, he hung up.

About 10 BRSM members welcomed Putin’s motorheads in Brest. The Wolves” thanked them and presented DVDs ‘Sevastopol Bike Show’.

It is noteworthy that it was Vadzim Lyaukovich, the chief of department on work with mass media of Brest Regional Executive Committee, who invited journalists to the press conference of ‘The Night Wolves’ in the Russian Consulate.

Earlier Mr Lyaukovich forbade the employees of the local history museum to grant an interview to Belsat TV.
