Volunteer fighters about Belarus’ trade with Russia-backed separatists: ‘We’ll take measures’

The tactical group ‘Belarus’ has a negative attitude to any cooperation with the so-called Donetsk and Luhansk republics and hopes that Kyiv will dissuade Belarusian authorities from trading with Russia-back separatists.

“When it comes to temporarily occupied regions of Donbas and Crimea, one should use the tactics of the complete economic blockade. As there is a war going on, there can be no trade. We realize that Belarusian authorities sanctioned big enterprises to deliver their goods to the temporarily occupied regions, as economy is tied with politics. Dodgers from Lukashenka’s administration are fond of sitting on two stools – they take advantage of a complicated situation and have deals with two warring sides,” representatives of the tactical group Belarus said in an exclusive interview with Belsat.

When asked whether Belarusian volunteers would hold protest rallies near the Belarusian Embassy in Kyiv or near the offices of Belarusian enterprises in Ukraine), they answered:

“We are going to take some steps to change the situation. We hope for Ukrainian authorities’ interest, because such issues should be raised and tackled at the international level.”

Kyiv will find proper words to explain to Minsk that trade with separatists is the wrong way to go, the volunteers believe.

“If the situations requires sanctions, we will welcome a principled stance. Evil must be exposed and punished! And imposing sanctions on those persons who are behind this trade would be equally important,” they stressed.

The tactical group ‘Belarus’ was established in July 2015.

According to the Belsat TV investigation, products of dozens of Belarusian companies gets to the separatists via the Russia-Ukraine border, which is not controlled by Kyiv. A number of companies do not even hide the fact of direct deliveries to Donetsk and Luhansk. Belarusian factories produce beer and vodka under the brand names of DPR companies, whose owners are suspected of financing terrorism in Ukraine.

Ukraine’s ambassador Igor Kizim said that if the information from the investigation about the trade between Belarus and the LPR and DPR was confirmed, the Belarusian companies would be put on the black list in Ukraine. According to him, Ukraine may also give the corresponding information to the European Union.
