Virus passes all bounds: COVID-19 in Lukashenka’s administration

As follows from the recent report by the TV station ONT, the presidential administration does not seem to be immune to COVID-19.

On April 19, Belarusian President Alyaksandr Lukashenka revealed the fact of its employee’s contracting the novel coronavirus during his visit to Smalyavichy district.

When addressing Ihar Serhiyenka, Head of the presidential administration, the Belarusian leader said:

“Oh, look, he is alive! You know, a person working at his reception office has fallen ill [with COVID-19]. But he [Serhiyenka] is safe and sound! He was tested [for the coronavirus], and everything is fine. Currently, there is a howl about people dying; if you do not want to die and if you are treated, you will live,” he said.

At the same time, Alyaksandr Lukashenka voiced another formula for combatting the disease.

“Doctors told me yeasterday that the virus dies when exposed to the UV rays [i.e. when it is sunny outside],” he stressed.

According to Lukashenka, the introduction of tough quarantine measures and placing a curfew would not improve the coronavirus situation in Belarus. In his opinion, such steps might deal a crippling blow to the daily life of Belarusians.

Since COVID-19 started to spread in Europe, the Belarusian leader has repeatedly hit the international headlines due his careless attitude to the outbreak.
